Sustainable Excursion Policy
RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL
We take into consideration the triple-bottom-line approach to weight ecological, economic and social aspects when we plan, provide or promote tourism related services to form a basis for our company’s commitment to sustainability.
As travellers, it is about choosing a ‘green’ holiday that can be as adventurous and educational at the same time, helping to reduce environmental impact and making contribution that benefits the local community.
Maximising Benefits
To ensure thatour excursions maximises benefits to local communities and the environment, we apply the following guidelines:
- We select the most sustainable option for transportation as long as this is in accordance with the wishes of our clients
- All our drivers have been trained in sustainable driving and must comply with our Transport Policy
- We give preference to local guides and helpers to provide better interpretative experiences and to support the local communities
- All our guides are trained on the sustainable issues and skilled to inform our guests
- We purchase locally produced goods and services, where possible, for all trips
- We limit the group size based on the local carrying capacity of the destination
- We provide training and guidance on sustainability issues to the excursion providers and local communities to ensure that the policy is put into practice
- We follow the core values of sustainable tourism, as per stated in our Partner Policy
- We promote Community Based Village Tourism and Home Stay
- All our contracts with excursion providers include basic sustainability clauses and compliance with the Labour laws of the government of Nepal
- We raise awareness of responsible tourism and travel practices among our guests
- All our guests receive, before coming to Nepal, information on how to minimise their negative impact and maximise their positive impact during the excursion, as per stated in our Responsible Tourist Policy
- We don’t offer products or services of excursion providers that harm humans, animals, plants, natural resources, or which are socially / culturally unacceptable
- We encourage our guests to purchase local handicrafts and products to support the local economy using the principles of fair trade
New Destinations
To ensure that new destinations and excursions maximises benefits to local communities and the environment, and minimises any negative aspects, we apply the following guidelines:
- We select the most sustainable option for transportation as long as this is in accordance with the wishes of our clients
- We take into consideration economic, environmental and social issues when looking at new products and destinations
- We actively consult the communities when new developments or extension of activities are proposed
Wildlife
To protect our wildlife in Nepal, we apply the following guidelines regarding wildlife excursions:
- We only offer properly regulated wildlife activities in compliance with local, national and international law
- We work with trained (wildlife) guides with good communication skills
- Wildlife species are not harvested, consumed, displayed, sold or traded, except as part of a regulated activity that ensures that their utilisation is sustainable and in compliance with the local, national and international law
- We discourage our guests to purchase products made from endangered plants or animals
- Our guests receive guidelines before their visit to Nepal on how to minimise their negative impact on the environment and wildlife
- The guides will provide general information about the environment, wildlife and culture before the start of the excursion to create understanding and respect amongst the guests
